Operation Enduring Freedom Marines
Description
1 3/4" diameter coin
In response to the savage acts of violence perpetrated against innocent American civilians on September 11, 2001, the United States declared a global war on terrorism. Initiating Operation Enduring Freedom on October 7, 2001, the U.S. Military led a blistering assault against the renegade Taliban regime in Afghanistan, striking at the heart of the infamous al Qaeda terrorist network. Maneuvering with unprecedented speed, unmatched skill, and razor sharp precision, America's Armed Forces successfully executed their mission to destroy the enemy's infrastructure and crush its offensive capabilities, effectively ousting the Taliban leadership from power and sending a clear message to the world that terrorism will not be tolerated.
This coin pays tribute to the overwhelming success of Operation Enduring Freedom and salutes the efforts of America's military to combat terrorism wherever it exists. The obverse features an American Bald Eagle, its wings spread wide against the backdrop of an American flag.
