Description
1 3/4" Diameter.
Battling a shadowy enemy on uncertain terrain, the 2,594,000 soldiers, sailors, and airmen served their country during the Vietnam War to sustain the hopes of a people striving to cast off the shackles of tyranny.
Throughout the entire course of one of America's longest wars, they refused to surrender a single battle to the enemy, honoring their commitment to shield the citizens of South Vietnam from the brutal aggression of the North Vietnamese communist forces.
This coin pays tribute to the courage and dedication of the all those who served in Vietnam. The obverse features a deep relief rendering of the Vietnam Veterans Statue, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The reverse has a rendering of the service ribbon and an area ideal for engraving a personalized message.
Struck in brass with an antique bronze finish, this coin's deep-relief design is achieved through the use of special "splash" dies, which allow certain elements to rise from the coin's surface.
